My name is Roxanne Sancto (28) and I am a German/British Journalist/Author based in Spain. I published my first novel The Pink Boots with Martin Tarte in 2010. I am about to publish a collection of my essays, The Tuesday Series, with Under Belly Comix.
I recently designed the concept for the The New Heroes & Pioneers‘ Freewheelers – 30 Artists You Should Already Know About. I am a Film, TV and Travel contributor for Paste Magazine and I write for itcher‘s Book, TV and Movie sections.
When I’m not depicting the Metallica Assassination for my boyfriend or meeting with alter egos like Miss Tuesday or Jenny Blaze, I can usually be found covered in paint, glue, bits of thread or whatever the material of the day. Set me up on a little table by the corner with some crayons, a glue stick, some old scarves and a pair of scissors and you won’t hear a peep out of me all day, I promise. I like experimenting with anything really but have to admit to a slight obsession with chrome car spray paint. Luckily, I’m all grown up now so I get to let out all artistic-chrome aggressions on the walls of our apartment.
I love drifting away with some of my favourite authors, preferably accompanied by the sound of rain and thunder. Seeing as that doesn’t happen too much here in Spain, www.rainymood.com usually does the trick. The main men in my life are Hunter S. Thompson, William S. Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, Jan Wolkers and my two evil Chucky’s: Chuck Palahniuk and Chuck Klosterman. Some of the ladies who rock my world are Charlotte Roche, Erica Jong and Yvonne Keuls.
The bands who would be at war with each other over who gets to be on the soundtrack of any of my books would include but are not limited to: The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Nirvana, Placebo, Dead Sara, Pink Floyd, The White Stripes, Juliette Lewis and the Licks, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, PJ Harvey and Patti Smith. The movie rights to my books would go to Darren Aronofsky, David Lynch or Larry Clark, all of whom are genius at what they do.
